Entry 1

The Barons won 2 baseball games against the Memphis Monarchs the first game they won 4 to 3 the second game they won 5 to 4. The Memphis Monarchs are one of the best teams in the Negro leagues. So after they won the both of the games they drove to Chicago, Piper (a player on the Barons) played cards with Biddy against some other players on the bus and they lost Piper didn’t take that well because it was very boring on the bus. Once they got to Chicago everybody thought it was very hot.

Biddy and Piper went to the pool hall and a tall guy that was dressed in a zoot suit had a gun. His girlfriend started winking at them when she found out they were baseball players, she was trying to start a fight. The guy told them it was time for them to go and showed them his gun to them. Biddy thought piper would have said something smart but he didn’t because he knew he could have gotten shot. After a couple of hours the whole team got on the bus and headed to Atlanta, about an hour on the way the bus broke down. So they had to take a train and they were very bored so the train was everything but quiet, they were playing cards talking and even working out.
